RELATIVE BIOLOGICAL EFFECT OF 14-Mev NEUTRONS WITH THE BROAD BEAN ROOT (VICIA FABA) AS A TEST SYSTEM
Lethality of the broad bean root was used as a test system to determine the RBE of 14-Mev neutrons. The LD/sub 50/ dose of 14-Mev neutrons was 125.9 plus or minus 9.6, and the LD/sub 50/ dose of gamma -rays from Co/sup 60/ was 401.4 plus or minus 21.2. When the gamma -ray LD/sub 50/ used as a base line, the RBE for 14-Mev neutrons was found to be 3.18 plus or minus 0.32. (auth)
