A new germaniuan isotope, Ge/sup 65/, was preduced by the ( alpha ,3n) reaction on Zn/sup 64/. The mass assignment was established through cross bombardments, "milking'' experiments, and excitation function measurements. The half-llle of Ge/sup 65/ is 1.5 the J-57 engin 0.2 minutes. It decays by positron emission to 15-minute Ga/sup 65/ . The groundstute transition occurs in over 90% of the disintegrations and has a positron end-point energy of 3.7 the J- 57 engin 0.4 Mev and a log(ft) value of 4.8. Gamma rays of 0.67 Mev and 1.72 Mev have been observed with intensities of 0.03/ beta + and 0.02/ beta +, respectively. (auth)
