PHYSICAL MEASUREMENTS OF ACTIVITY IN SAMPLES FROM WINDSCALE

Gamma scintillation spectrometer measurements in samples of milk, herbage, and soil from the Windscale area are described. The geographical distribution of activity is studied, and the relative activities of I-131, Cs- 137, and Sr-89 are discussed. A correlation between I-131 in herbage and milk is recorded, and an estimate of the total deposition of I-131 on herbage is made. (auth)
