ON THE LUTETIUM ISOTOPE WITH MASS NUMBER 173 (in Russian)

0 days, to which the mass number A 173 was assigned, was found among the rare earth products from deep Ta spallation. The indicated T/sub 1/2/ differs from that previously assigned and is close to Lu/sup 174/ (165 days). In order to confirm the identification of the isotope, it was separated from Hf. The gamma spectrum of Lu/sup 173/ was recorded with a "stationary" well coincidence scheme, and coincidences with the line E/sub gamma / = 79 kev are presented. The gamma line at 79 key coincides with the lines 101, 175, and 274 kev; the gamma line at 173 kev coincides with the 101-kev line and with itself. The Lu/ sup 175/ decay scheme was developed, and the relative probabilities of various Lu/ sup 173/ quantum coincidences were calculated. The calculations are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental data. (R.V.J.)
