THE EFFECT OF X-RAY TREATMENT ON THE MITOTIC ACTIVITY OF THE CORNEA

The mitotic activity of white mice cornea during whole-body exposures to 100, 600, and 800 r was studied. The tabulated data show that the mitotic activity of the cornea eplthelium exposed to 600 and 800 r is restored after 3 to 5 days; with the exposure to 100 r it is restored after 6 hours. However, the effects of irradiation are observed for a long time. A great number of pathological mitoses was observed after 5 days. (R.V.J.)
