A method for determining the thermal conductivity of powders is described. The technique was applied to powdered lime and the thermal conductivity found to vary from 0.76 x 10/sup -3/ cal/cm sec deg C at 100/ deg C to 1.17 X 10/sup -3/ cal/cm sec deg C at 900 deg C. The results are considered accurate to plus or minus 6%. (auth)
