RADIOACTIVE STRONTIUM 90 IN THE TREATMENT OF CYSTIC GLANDULAR HYPERPLASIA OF THE ENDOMETRIUM

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4266323
Ten patients with cystic glandular hyperplasia were treated by introducing 2 or 3 applicators containing Sr/sup 90/ tubes (60 to 90 mc) into the uterine cavity for 7 to 10 hours (560 to 850 mc). The results of the treatment were satisfactory. In most of the cases hemorrhages ceased after one month; in two cases the treatment had to be repeated. In one case the treatment failed and at hysterectomy large myomata were found. A histological study was made of the cases for periods up to one year. It was concluded that the Sr/sup 90/ treatment does no somatic or genetic damage to the ovaries and therefore is suitable also for young patients. Satisfactory results can be expected if proper indicaiion exists and the dosage is well adjusted. (C.H.)
