THE CONDENSATION COEFFICIENT OF BORON TRIFLUORIDE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4260693
Experiments were performed to study the rate of condensation of boron trifiuoride on a copper surface maintained at liquid-nitrogen temperature (-195 deg C). The condensation coefficent was found to be in the range (2.85 plus or minus 23%) x 10/sup -2/. Using this value for the condensation coefficient, values for the thermal conductivity of the solid deposit are deduced; a mean value is (9.3 plus or minus 2.8%) x 10/sup -4/ cal/cm s deg C at -166 deg C, which is in agreement with that found by other investigators.
