PARTIAL BODY IRRADIATION OF RATS WITH HIGH X RADIATION DOSES (in German)

Journal Article · · Strahlentherapie (West Germany)
OSTI ID:4259714

The left adrenal gland or the small bowel, or the adrenal gland and another organ of the upper abdomen of rats whose right adrenal had been removed, were isolated and irradiated by 7500 r each. The survival time was more shortened if a large part of small intestine or the adrenal and small intestine were irradiated. The conclusion was drawn that after irradiation in the upper abdomen with high doses the death of the animals is not due to a general radiation intoxication, proportional to the integral dose but due to radiation damage of certain organs.
