INTERNAL STANDARD METHOD OF GENERAL SPECTROGRAPHIC ANALYSIS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4248188
A general spectrographic method of moderate accuracy was developed for analysis of diverse materials. The method was studied by the preparation of working curves for the elements Cr, Fe, Ni, Co, Al, Mo, Cu, B, Mg, Ma, Sn, Si, U, Bi, Be, Pb, Ti, Ag, Zn, and Zr. These can be determined with an average deviation of sintering time l5% and with an accuracy of within 20%. The powdered sample is mixed with a diluent containing germanium dioxide, graphite and an internal standard, gallium oxide. A portion of this mix is packed into a graphite electrode cup and arced at 15 amperes d-c for 120 seconds. (auth)
