THE ARTIFICIAL RADIOACTIVITY OF THE ATMOSPHERE IN AACHEN ON APRIL 1, 1958 (in German)

Journal Article · · Meteorol. Rundschau
OSTI ID:4241155
On April 1, 1958, in Aachen, a sudden increase in the artificial atmospheric radioactivity was observed. The increased activity was between 25 and 30 times larger than the normal level, and after a day ihe aciiviiy returned to its usual level. Age determinations were made, and it was established that the time of origin of the high activity was March 6, 1958. To establish the origin of the air mass which had produced the increased activity, trajectories of air currents were determined. The results showed that the origin of the air mass was the eastern Siberian coast-Kamchatka region. (J.S.R.)
