SCATTERING OF 590 Mev NEUTRONS BY PROTONS IN THE SMALL ANGLE REGION (in Russian)

The differential elastic n-p-scattering cross sections for angles from 5 to 35 in the cms was determined for 590 Mev neutrons by the ring scatterer method. A strong increase of the cross sections was found with decrease of the scattering angle. Moreover the forward scattering cross sections were found to exceed the backward cross sections. A comparison of the results obtained with predictions of the optical theorem shows that it does not seem correct to treat nucleon-nucleon scattering processes at ~600 Mev on the basis of the opaqae nucleon concept.
