SPECTROSCOPIC DETERMINATION OF THE Lu$sup 176$ NUCLEAR SPIN (in Russian)

The nuclear spin of Lu/sup 176/ was determined in relation to the intensity ef the Lu lambda 6436 line The measurements were made wiih a photoelectric spectrometer with the Fabnry-Perot interferometer using 2 mg of Lu/ sub 2/O/sub 3/ enriched about 30% with Lu/sup 176/. In order to avoid errors the hyperfine structure of Lu/sup 175/ was reeorded under identical conditions, and the intensity curves of Lu/sup 175/ were subtracted from the corrccted curves for Lu/sup 176/ The resulting curve was used for determining the intensity ratio of Lu/sup 176/ c/a components. Considering the corrections made by superimposing the measured component contours, the ratio c/a = l.31 plus or minus 0.03. The dependence of the c/a ratio intensity values of the Lu lambda 6463 A line hyperfine structure components on the Lu/sup 176/ spin I value was 1.444, 1.344, 1.308, and l.267. The measured intensity c/a = 1.31 plus or minus 0.03 is in good agreement with the spin value I = 7. (R.V J.)
