INELASTIC SCATTERING OF HIGH ENERGY PROTONS BY B$sup 11$ AND O$sup 1$$sup 6$
The differential cross scctions for the inelastic scattering to the 4.46- Mev level of B/sup 11/ and to the 6.06and 6.14-Mev levels of O/sup 16/ are calculated in the extreme L-S coupling picture. The transition to thc excited state is described by the free nucleon-nucleon scattering matrix. Only the absorption part of the optical potential is taken into account. Good agreement with experiment is obtained. (auth)
