Corticosteroids and the radiation effect in regenerating liver of the rat

The speed of regeneration of the liver of adrenalecamized irradiated rats is compared to that of normal rats, irradiated with lead shields over pituitary and adrenal, to determine if the secretion of corticosteroids is in part responsible for the radiation-induced inhibition of mitosis. It is shown that the adrenalectomized rat has a mitosis speed four times greater than that of the normal rat in spite of radiation damage a the liver.
