In comparing the antigenic structure of rabbit's kidneys, one of which was removed following total irradiation, no effect of ionizing radiation on the antigenic structure of the tissue was found. In similar experiments with the rabbit's liver (a portion of which was removed surgically prior to irradiation) there were noted distinct antigenic changes developing after the irradiation. However, in a number of experiments such charges developed because of the surgical procedure without irradiation. For a final decision of the problem on the action of ionizing radiation on the antigenic properties of proteins, experiments must be performed on animals of pure lines. (auth)
