THE DETERMINATION OF NICKEL IN BERYLLIUM COMPOUNDS (FLUORIDE, HYDROXIDE AND AMMONIUM FLUORBERYLLATE)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4236803

BS>Solutions of the samples are fumed with sulfuric acid to remove fluoride, and the residues are dissolved in water. After making alkaline with ammonia in the presence of citrate, the nickel dimethylglyoxime is extracted into chloroform and the nickel back extracted into hydrochloric acid. The oxidized nickel dimethylglyoxime complex is formed and the nickel is determined absorptiometrically. The method is suitable for the determination of 2 to 100 ppm of nickel in beryllium fluoride and 1 to 50 ppm in beryllium hydroxide and ammonium fluorberyllate. Except at lower levels the error should not exceed plus or minus 5%. (auth)
