THE DETERMINATION OF MANGANESE IN BERYLLIUM COMPOUNDS (FLUORIDE, HYDROXIDE AND AMMONIUM FLUORBERYLLATE)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4223253

Solutions of the samples are fumed with sulfuric acid to remove fluoride and residues are dissolved in water. After adding silver nitrate and nitric acid the manganese is oxidized to permangate by potassium pericdate and is determined spectrophotometrically. The method is suitable for the determination of 5 to 100 ppm of manganese in beryllium fluoride and up to 50 ppm in ammonium fluorberyllate and beryllium hydroxide. Except at lower levels the error should not exceed plus or minus 5%. (auth)
