Direct Approach to Quantitative Autoradiography

Several physical factors which influence an autoradiographic image produced by radioactive inclusions in thin experimental specimens have been correlated through a semiempirical formula. The latter may be used to estimate the concentration of a radioisotope in a specimen from microscopic measurement of grain density in its autoradiograph, if the period of exposure, sensitivity of the photographic emulsion, and the actual geometrical arrangements of the experiment are known.
