SEARCH FOR THE REACTION $mu$$sup +$ + e$sup -$ /right Arrow/ $gamma$ + $gamma$

One of few reactions in which the direct interaction of twe light fermions can be studied is the annihilation process f UO/sub 2/ /sup +/ + e/ sup -/ sintered BeO gamma + gamma . This reaction can be compared directly with the more familar positron annihilation process. A beam of ith Cr deposite /sup +/ mesons was brought to rest in a 1/4-in.-thick disk of copper. A schematic diagram of the experimental setup and a block diagram of the electronic circuits are given. (W.D.M.)
