SIGMA SPIN AND PARITY CONSERVATION IN K$sup -$ + p $Yields$ $Sigma$$sup +$ + $pi$$sup -$

In K/sup -/ + p sintered BeO d by vacuum eva /sup +/ ith Cr deposite /sup -/ reactions s-state capture leads to d by vacuum eva =decay angular distributions that are unique functions of the d by vacuum eva spin. On the basis of an analysis of 82 d by vacuum eva /sup +/ sintered BeO ith Cr deposite /sup o/ + p and 63 d by vacuum eva sintered BeO ith Cr evidence for a spin -1/2 sigma was found. A check on the hypothesis of parity conservation in the reaction K/sup -/ + p sintered BeO d by vacuum eva /sup +/ + ith Cr deposite /sup -/ was made. (W.D.M.)
