TOTAL CROSS SECTION ON N$sup 15$ AND O$sup 18$ FOR NEUTRONS IN THE Mev ENERGY RANGE (in German)

The total cross section of O/sup 18/ for neutrons in the energy range from 2.82 to 4.17 Mev and of N/sup 15/ in the energy range from 2.80 to 3.62 Mev was measured by means of a conventional transmission xperiment using the d-d reaction as neutron source. For N/sup 16/ a level at 5.26 Mev was found. Possible spin and parity assignments are 3 plus or minus or less probably 4/sup +/ or 2/sup -/. For O/sup 18/ the cross section shows a complex structure with 4 distinct maxima. Due to overlapping resonances and possible inelastic scattering, an interpretation is difficult. However, by making some simplifying assumptions a reasonable fit to the data was obtained with levels at 6.81, 6.97, 7.26, and 7.73 Mev and the spin and parity assignments 3/2/sup +/, 1/ 2/sup -/, 1/2/sup -/, and 1/2/sup -/ respective ly. (auth) Yield and angular distribution of the gamma radiation following electric excitation of Eu/sup 151/, Eu/sup 153/, Gd/sup 155/, Gd/sup 1 Dy/sup 163/, Er/sup 167/, Yb/sup 173/, Hf/ sup 177/, Hf/sup 179/, Re/sup 185/, and Re/sup 187/ were measured using 4 Mev protons. Transition probabilities and mixing ratios as well as moment of inertia, deformation parameter, and nuclear gyromagnetic ratios are deduced from experimental results. (auth)
