DECAY OF Eu$sup 152$m

Presented at the I959 Spring Meeting of the Am. Phys. Soc. The gamma rays in Sm/.sup 152/ and Gd/sup 152/,following the decay of the 9.3 hour metasthale state of Eu/sup 152/ were studied in permanent magnet spectrographs. A number of new weak transitions were observed, and a deeay scheme is proposcd. Directional correlation measuremcnts were made on two cascades in Sm/sup 152/ and on one cascade in Gd/sup 152/. The measurements confirm the spin and parity assignments of 1- and 2+ for the 0.963 Mev and 0.122 Mev levels in Sm/sup 152/. Possible spin asslgnmcnts for the l.51l Mev level in Sm/sup 152/ are dlscussed. The l.3I5 Mev and 0.344 Mev levels in Gd.sup 152/ have a spln and parity of I- and 2+, respectively. Multipolarlties arc given for the prlnclpal gamma transltlons. (auth)
