THE PARTIAL BETA SPECTRA OF Dy$sup 16$$sup 5$ (in German)
The gamma spectrum from the decay of 2.3-hr Dy/sup 165 was measured with a scintillation spectrometer. In addition to the lines already known at 92, 275. 356, 630, 708, and 985 kev, an additional line at 555 er inch per 5 kev was found. By BETA - gamma coincidences the transitions to the 95and 985-kev levels were investigated. The measurement of the BETA spectra was made with an anthracene split crystal, which was surrounded by a NaI crystal, in order to register the gamma quanta used for the coincidence. The form of both beta spectra was determined, and the Fermi diagrams show in each case a straight-line path. The values 1.215 er inch per 0.020 and 0.305 er inch per 0.010 Mev were obtained for the maximum energy. The maximum energy for the BETA transition to thc ground level of Ho/sup 165/ was 1.305 er inch per 0.020 Mev. From BETA - gamma coincidence measurements and the intensity ratios of the gamma spectra it was shown that in the decay of Dy/sup 165/ 80% leads to the ground level of Ho/sup 165/, 16% to the 95-kev level, and approximately 2% to the 985-kev level.
