2.5 AND 14.6 MEV NEUTRON CROSS SECTIONS OF Th$sup 230$, Pu$sup 240$, Pu$sup 241$, AND Am$sup 24$$sup 1$ (in Russian)

Cross sections for Th/sup 230/, Pu/sup 240/, Pu/sup 241/, and Am/sup 241/ fis sion by 2.5 and 14.6 Mev neutrons were measured in order to determine and verify the dependence of the neutron energy band f on A (at constant Z) and f(A). The isotopic compositions of thorium and americium were measured by mass spectroscopy. The quantity of Th/sup 230/, Pu/sup 240/, and Am/sup 241/ was determined by the number of emitted alpha particles and by the number of spontaneous fissions. The cross section of Pu/sup 241/ fission by slow neutrons was 1025 plus or minus 10 barns. Cross sections for 14.6-Mev fission were measured by the absolute method. The cross sections of Th/sup 230/ fission by 2.5-Mev neutrons were measured in relation to Th/sup 232/. The cross sections of Th/sup 230/ fission by 2.5-Mev neutrons were measured in relation to Th/sup 232/. The cross sections of Pu/sup 240/, Pu/sup 241/, and Am/sup 241/ were measured relative to U/sup 235/. The data are tabulated and correlated with available published data. (R.V.J.)
