ELASTIC PROTON SCATTERING BY CHROMIUM ISOTOPES AT 5.40 Mev

Angular distributions of proions elastically scattered by Cr/sup 52/ and Cr/sup 53/ were recorded at 20 to 160 deg . Plots of energy spectra indicate not only quantitative but also qualitative differences. At large angles the intensity for Cr/sup 52/ is about 2.5 times tham for Cr/sup 53/. The minima differ greatly at 90 deg . The even-even Cr/sup 52/ scatters protons in a manner identical to Ni/sup 58/. Ni/sup 60/, etc., while the odd-even Cr/sup 53/ scattering is identical to Cu/sup 65/. The data indicate that regardless of the nucleon charge the one unit change in the number of nucleons alters considerably the nucleon interaction. (R.V.J.)
