Luminescence and scintillation properties of 1-(methoxyphenyl) -2- phenylethyicne; 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-2phenylethylene, and I-phenyl-2-(4 biphenylyl)ethylene solutions in polystyrene are studied. The scintillation efficiency of 1% solution of I-phenyl-2-(4-biphenylyl) ethylene reaches 147% in comparison to 2% p-terphenyl. The scintillation efficiency of diarylethylenes is proportional to photoluminescence. (tr-auth)
