THE EFFECT OF PRASEODYMIUM OXIDE ADMIXTURES ON THE PROPERTIES OF CERTAIN GLASSES (in Russian)

The influence of praseodymium oxide admixture on properties of lead, barium, and phosphate glass was investigated. The results show that additions of praseodymium oxide produce glasses with improved optical con stants, linear expansion, crystallization, and other factors. Structurally, praseodymium in glass is identical to PrF/sub 3/. The barium and phosphate glasses are recommended as special light fiiters. (R.V.J.)
