Studies were made of the influence of Fe, Al, Ti, Si, and P oxides on sintering, hardness, thermal stability, deformation under load, linear expansion, and microstructure of objects fabricated from ZrO/sub 2/ stabilized by calcium. Industrial, high-quality refractory ZrO/sub 2/ should be free of admixtures, especially P, Fe, and Si oxides. (R.V.J.)
