Effects of rare earths and their oxides on stainless steel ductility at high temperatures and mechanical properties at room temperature were studied. Admixtures of 0.05 to 0.30% FeCe, 0.05 to 0.25% La, 0.05 to 0.4% CeO/sub 2/, 0.05 to 0.4% lanthanum oxide, and 0.05 to 0.3% praseodymium oxide did not improve ductility in the examined steel.
