A design study of heavy-water-moderated power reactor plants is summarized. The over-all study had two objectives: selection and recommendation of a conceptual design of a heavy water moderated power reactor plant providing optimum economics with slight fuel enrichment, but capable of operating with natural U fuel, and preparation of prelimirary design and cost estimates of a prototype power reactor plant of the minimum size necessary to demonstrate the recommended concept. Each design was based on currently available technology and that development which could be undertaken concurrently with plant design and construction. The design was based on a prototype operating date of mid-1963. (W.L.H.)
