The decay of Dy/sup 165m/ (1.25 min), produced by thermal neutron bcmbardment of Dy/sub 2/O/sub 3/, was studied with the aid of scintillation spectrcmeters. The ratio of cross sections for activation of Dy/sup 165m/ (1.25 min) and Dy/sup 165/(2.3 hr was found to be 0.654 plus or minus 0.017. The K- conversion coefficient of the 108.0 kev gamma ray of Dy/sup 165m/ was determined to be alpha /sub K/ = 3.62 plus or minus 0.22, which agreed with the theoretical value for deexcitation by E/syb/3/ transition. The branching ratio of the decay of Dyt/sup 165m/ was (97.6 plus or minus 0,3)% isomeric transition leading to the Dyt/sup 165/ ground state and (2.4 plus or minus 0.3)% beta -decay leading to excited states of Ho/sup 165/. The beta ray spectrum was measured for the first time and was composed of two components with maximum energies (890 plus or minus 50) kev for (87 plus or minus 5)% and (1020 plus or minus 80) kev for (13 plus or minus 5)%. The most probable spin assignments for the 515 and 356 kev states of Ho/sup 165/ are 3/2/sup -/ and 3/2/ sup +/, respectively. (auth)
