A fast neutron time-of-flight spectrometer

Journal Article · · Nuclear Instruments and Methods

A time-of-flight spectrometer for the measurement of neutron energies of 0.5 to 15 Mev was constructed. The full time resolution widths of the prompt gamma - gamma coincidence curve from a source of Co⁶⁰ is 6.5 x 10⁻¹⁰ sec. This time resolution corresponds to an energy resolution of about 1% for neutrons of 1 Mev, for a flight path of 1.5 m. The limitations on the time resolution obtained are discussed. (auth)
