Electron-Electron Scattering and a Check of Photon Elementarity; RASSEYANIE ELEKTRONA NA ELEKTRONE I PROVERKA ELEMENTARNOSTI FOTONA

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4168410
Scattering of high energy electrons by electrons is treated to determine whether a photon is elementary. If a photon is described by a Regge pole, then the matrix element of the process under consideration depends on two invariant amplitudes. However, a determination of the photon trajectory requires only that the differential cross section should be measured for fixed t and different s. If the interaction is gamma /sub 5/--invariant, then one of these amplitudes asymptotically vanishes. The possibility of checking the gamma /sub 5/-- invariance on the basis of other experiments is discussed. (auth)
