Beef or mouse liver catalase adininistered intravenously to mice apparently is not absorbed by the erythrocytes or the cells of the liver, spleen, or intestine. Erratic results . were shown by kidney. Increases in the catalase activity of spleen and intestine were attributed to the catalase increment of the blood plasma and, in the case of the intestine, to its excretory function. The adininistration of mouse or beef liver catalase shontly before or after whole- body x irradiation of mice with 750 or 800 r was without effect on percentage survival or survival time. (auth)
