An atomic-beam magnetic-resonance technique with radioactive detection was used to investigate several radioactive gallium isotopes. The nuclear spin of 21-min Ga70 was determined to be 1, and the hyperfine structure separations of 68-min Ga68 and 78-hr Ga67 were measured. The Ga67 was measured in both the 2P3/2 and the 2P1/2 electronic states and the differential hyperfine structure anomaly 67δ 69 determined. The Ga68 was measured in the 2P/sub 3/2 state and exhibited a very small magnetic moment, causing an inversion of the energy levels. For an assumed positive magnetic moment the decreasing energy level sequence is F = 5/2, 1/2, /3/2. The nuclear moments were obtained by the use of thc Fermi-Segre formula and previously measured moments and interaction constants of Ga69.
