OPTICAL HYPERFINE STRUCTURE AND NUCLEAR MOMENTS OF PROMETHIUM 147
The hyperfine structure of a number of Pm/sup 147/ I- and II-lines was measured. From the best resolved patterns it is concluded that the ground state spin of the Pm/sup 147/ nuclide is 7/2. On plausible assumptions concerning the electronic level scheme of Pm II the value of the nuclear magnetic moment turns out to be 2.7 nuclear magneton. with an estimated uncertainty of plus or minus 10%. The nuclear electric quadrupole moment is small. The results are discussed in connection with the nuclear shell model and radioactive decay data. (auth)
