Operation upshot-knothole, Nevada proving grounds, March-June 1953. Report to the test director. Alpha and transit time measurement. Projects 10.1 and 10.2 (sanitized version)

Technical Report ·

Alpha was measured by Edgerton, Germeshausen and Grier, Inc. (EG&G), on all shots. The data were recorded by means of systems employing oscilloscope indicators deflected by the application of a signal voltage proprotional to the neutron flux on one axis and either a sine wave (Rossi sweep) or a linear time base sweep on the perpendicular axis. Transit time was measured on all tower shots, using standard spiral sweep traces for the first three shots and raster sweeps thereafter. EG&G installed, calibrated, tested, and operated alpha and transit time equipment during Operation Upshot-Knothole.
