A new method for obtaining high-power radiofrequency pulses of only a few microseconds duration was developed. A capacitor bank was discharged through a triggered spark gap in series with a saturable-core reactor, and the peaked voltage wave developed across the reactor was used to shoek excite a radiofrequency tank circuit.
