LIFE-TIME OF 321 Kev LEVEL OF Hf$sup 17$$sup 7$ (in Russian)

S>Certain level properties of odd deformed nuclei were previously descrived within the fram work of BohrMattelson Nilsson models; however, the intensity rules do not agree fo Hf/sup 117/ where the El probability ratio of 208 and 321 kev differ from the theoretical value. An attempt is made to find the absolute magnitudes of transition probability values for gamma radiation with hv = 208 and 321 kev. The life-time of 321 and 208 kev levels were measured by the method of retarded coincidences and were found to be P/sub gamma 321/(E1) = 5.5 x 10/sup 7/ sec/sup -1/ and P/sub gamma 208/(E1) = 1.4 x 10 /sup 9/ sec/sup - 1/. The E1 transition forbiddeness is compared to the 396 and 282 kev E1 transitions in Lu/sup 175 kev transition in Lu/sup 177. If it is postulated that the above transitions are described by the collective model, the 208 kev transition is considerably accelerated (about 800 times) in comparision to the transition between singlet 321 kev level and the pure rotational level 113 kev. In contrast if it is assumed that the 208 kev transition agrees with the simple collective model and Nilsson's formuls (f/sub H//sup 208/ = 0.6), the El transition for 396(Lu/sup 175/), 321(Hf/sup 177/), and 147 kev (Lu/sup 177/) is slowed down by secondary effects.
