ON FORBIDDEN E1 TRANSITIONS IN Tb$sup 159$ AND Yb$sup 17$$sup 3$ (in Russian)

Measurements are made on the half life for the 364-kev level in Tb/sup 159/, T/sub 1/2/ = --(1/7 plus or minus 0.7) x 10/sup -10/ sec, and fo r the / sub 1/2/ 351-kev level in Yb/sup 173/, T/sub 1/2/ = (4.2 plus or minus 0.7) x 10/sup sec. The 10/sc4.2 0.7) x 10-t0 sec. The probabilities for El transitions are calculated and compared-with the values computed from the Nilsson model. It is concluded that, just as in case of Hf/sup 177/, an El transition occurs with a transition probability that is evidently different from the theoretical value. (auth)
