STUDIES OF REACTOR CONTAINMENT. Bimonthly Progress Report, June-July 1963

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4149241

Progress is reported on crushable shield analysis and design, shock impingement experiments on crushable shields, and coolant decompression experiments and analysis. A comparison is made of computer codes for calculation of wave transmission in layered composites of crushable materials. Experiments and techniques for determining unloading isentrope relations for balsa wood in the shock tube test facility are evaluated. High speed photography is being used to analyze the initial flow development following sudden decompression of water from pressure vessels. A description of equipment for studying coolant decompression is given. (N.W.R.)
