The frame of the machine is guided so as to move parallel to the free face of a reactor. A longitudinal passage, parallel to the reactor channels, is provided with an outer tube-slightly smaller in diameter than the channel end portion and equal in diameter to the channel central portion. This tube slides in the passage from complete retraction to an inserted position in the fuel channel. The tube is provided with a hooking means and also an inner rod of slightly smaller diameter than the central channel which is extendable into the central portion of the fuel channel. It is also provided with a means for hooking of fuel elements. Means for storage of the extracted fuel elements is also provided. (R.E.U.)
