MICRO DETERMINATION OF CARBON IN METALS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4146362
Carbon in metals can best be determined by hightemperature oxidation of the sample and subsequent measurement of the evolved carbon dioxide. An apparatus and procedure are described which constitute a modification of a capillary-trap determination method. The modification resulted in a simplified portable apparatus (20 in. wide, 15 in. deep, and 42 in. high). The method is applicable to metals with high sulfur and nitrogen content. (auth)
