PROTACTINIUM-237
Protactinium-237 was produced from the reaction U/sup 238/( gamma ,p)Pa/ sup 237/ by 25-Mev bremsstrahlung. The activity produced was chemically separated. The half-life was found to be T/sub 1/2/ = 39 plus or minus 3 min. The radiations were measured with a scintillation spectrometer. Three beta components were identified with the end-points 2.30 plus or minus 0.05 Mev, 1.35 Mev, and about 0.8 Mev. Many gamma rays were found. A decay scheme was constructed with the aid of Nilsson's unified model. (auth)
