ABS>In rats subjected to intraperitoneal administration of Sr/sup 89/ (1 mc/gm body weight), changes appear in the bone tissue, which in 40% of cases transform into sarcomas. At first there is seen a disturbance of ossification, an intensified resolution of the bone substance and development. of cellulofibrous tissue. After 30 days these manifestations progress. From the 120th to 170th day there are observed in individual instances reparative processes while in other ---atypical structures appear. The period from the 170th to 200th day could be called presarcomatous, inasmuch as during this time the changes noted could be attributed to presarcomas. Following 200 days formed sarcomas are revealed. It is of interest to note that in the bones where no sarcomas developed the reparative processes never reach the complete restoration of normal bone structure. (auth)
