A round table conference on surface phenomena of thermionic emitters was held on June 10, 1969 in the 'Institut fuer Technische Physik' of the Kernforschungsanlage Juelich GmbH. This meeting was a sequel to a similiar one organized in July 1967. This conference gave emphasis to the great importance given to the surface properties of thermionic emitters in order to yield high efficiency and long lifetime converters. Papers for which written presentations were submitted by the authors are included in this publication.
