ABS>Abnormally mixed crystals formed in CaF/sub 2/-- CeF/sub 3/--NaF and CaF/sub 2/--YF/sub 3/-NaF systems were studied. Cerium and yttrium fluorides precipitate with CaF/sub 2/ without a lower limit of miscibility. The absolute crystallization coefficient for CeF/sub 3/ is larger than for YF/sub 3/. Crystallization of CeF/sub 3/ and YF/sub 3/ is a function of temperature. With temperature increase of 151 deg (from 864 to 1015 deg ) the Nonemagnitude D increased several times. Crystallization and solid-phase recrystallization time at constant temperature and melt composition differ from an ordinary equilibrium curve. Solubility of CeF/sub 3/ and YF/sub 3/ in the CaF/sub 2/--NaC system was determined at 864 deg C. (R.V.J.)
