Coefficients for CeF/sub 3/ and YF/sub 3/ distribution between the system and CaF crystals in oxygen, carbon dioxide, argon, and nitrogen media were determined. Coefficients for CeF/sub 3/ and YF/sub 3/ in oxygen and carbon dioxide were smaller in argon and nitrogen. Coefficient variations with temperature and time in the solid state resulted from reduced compound strengths and changes in the gas solubilities. (R.V.J.)
