MODIFICATION OF THE ROSENBLUM SPARK COUNTER
BS>A modification of the Rosenblum spark counter was made by cutting a slit in the plate and allowing a beam of alpha particles to pass through it. The sensitive volume is thus made more accessible and there is a considerable increase in count rate. The characteristics of the counter operated in this manner were examined for varying thicknesses of wire. An explanation of some of the results is attempted by an analysis of the field around the wire. (auth)
